Commonly Asked Questions

Q: Will soft spots develop over time?

A: Poor quality foam mattresses and poor quality spring mattresses both have this in common. Bad springs or cheap foam can wear down over time. When it comes to foam, low quality foam doesn't have a warranty just for that reason. At The Foam Zone, located in Victoria BC, we use the highest quality of foam and that is why we are able to supply such great levels of warranty.

Q: How can a foam mattress compete with a spring mattress with 2500 springs?

A: The cellular structure of foam acts as millions of microscopic springs. Each cell compresses much like the large hard metal springs but works in a way that they can softly support the body even more effectively because of the ability to compress and conform is throughout the entire material of the mattress.

Q: If you're only getting foam in this mattress why is it as expensive as s spring mattress with springs and quilting?

A: Basically you've answered your own question. Spring mattresses have very little expensive material inside. As you can see in the other manufactures samples the spaces in the mattress are often filled with inexpensive fillers and other than springs and fabric have very little cost to the entire mattress. Our foam mattresses are solid foam. There are no holes, no fillers, only quality foam which supports you comfortably all the way through the entire mattress. Also, it is interesting to notice that spring mattresses become more expensive as foam is added, which is really where the comfort of their mattresses originates from.

Q: Aren't foam mattresses uncomfortable because they are hot?

A: The memory foam mattress increases your blood flow, which is essential to a healthy body. As a result you may feel warmer and may need to adjust the amount of covers you use. The ContourmaticTM goes one strep further and helps you keep cool with the ventilated Cuddle Foam®.

Q: I have allergies and I hear that foam mattresses are bad for a person with allergies is this true?

A: All spring mattresses have foam as a topper. Some people are allergic to dust and our mattress aids in eliminated problems with allergies by using a removable cover which you can wash if you are concerned with dust mites.

Q: Why is this memory foam mattress better than a latex mattress?

A: Memory foam and latex are two different products. Latex carries no added benefits over conventional foam and has no likeness to memory foam. Latex is considered the 'first foam' and polyurethane foam was developed later as technology advanced. Latex is often a problem for people because latex allergies are so common, we do not use any latex in our mattresses.

Q: Why does the foam smell?

A: There is a "new foam smell" with all foam products. It is completely harmless and disappears quickly. Any new mattress that contain any amount of foam, whether it be a spring mattress or an exclusively foam mattress, will have this odor initially.

Q: I have a foam pillow at home that has turned yellow. Will your pillow be prone to stain like this?

A: All foam turns a yellow color over time no matter what color it started off as. This is not a stain but simply a reaction that occurs with foam when it is exposed to UV rays. A yellowing of a foam product is unavoidable and does not decrease the quality of the foam in any way.
